Governance Now – the flagship conference exploring cultural governance, presented by Clore Leadership on behalf of the Cultural Governance Alliance (CGA) – returns to London on Wednesday 6 November 2024.

This year’s conference, which will also take place online, explores the interventions for change that are needed from cultural boards at a time when ‘business as usual’ isn’t enough to see our sector survive and thrive.

The sector’s resilience and adaptability are being tested like never before – and the need for more robust, diverse and effective governance is top of the agenda. So how can boards ‘imagine it different’? And how can they help organisations embrace more imaginative responses to these ever-growing challenges?

With an industry-leading line-up of speakers from culture, technology, and local government, we will investigate ways in which bold, courageous governance might support different models for working and help move us beyond the status quo.

Join fellow cultural leaders for a series of keynotes, roundtables, provocations and breakout sessions to explore topics including Artificial Intelligence, citizens assemblies, paying trustees, and reinventing cultural investment in local government.

Speakers include: Tonya Nelson, Executive Director of Enterprise and Innovation for Arts Council England, Dr Doug Gurr, Director of the Natural History Museum (keynote), Councillor Liz Green Chair of Local Government Association’s Culture, Tourism and Sport board, and Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames (keynote), Nola Sterling, Trustee of Clean Break Theatre, David Jubb & Saad Eddine Said of Citizens in Power and Linden Walcott-Burton from the Greater London Authority.
