The National Opera Studio (NOS) has appointed opera director LUCY BRADLEY to the newly created role of Resident Director.

The new position has been created by the opera training organisation in order to further strengthen its teaching offer.

Bradley, who has worked as a director across the UK and Europe, will be responsible for assessing individual stagecraft skills throughout NOS's 2024/25 Young Artists’ Programme.

Her directing credits include the 2023 UK tours of The Flying Dutchman and The Promise, and Belongings, Tycho’s Dream, and Into the Harbour at Glyndebourne.

She was Associate Director for Nixon in China in 2023 at Teatro Real, Madrid, and on The Handmaid’s Tale at The Royal Danish Opera in 2022.

This month sees Bradley working as Associate Director on San Francisco Opera's revival of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Commenting on her new role at NOS, she said: "I look forward to working individually with this year's Young Artists, offering them regular and individually-focused support as they develop their performance practice."

ERIC MELEAR, NOS Artistic Director, added that Bradley's "broad experience will greatly benefit our Young Artists in the rehearsal studio, expanding the scope of our individually tailored, bespoke training programme to hone the stagecraft of our singers".
