Big business is a big friend to the arts, but there should be proper scrutiny of where every donation – however generous – comes from, says Alice Jones.

If you have visited a major arts institution in London lately, chances are you will have seen the name Sackler.
It adorns the V&A’s brand new courtyard, a gallery at the Serpentine, the escalators at Tate Modern, a room stuffed with Turners at the National Gallery, a laboratory at the Natural History Museum, a pavilion at the National Theatre and some studios at Shakespeare’s Globe, among many other places...
