A new £1m funding programme has been created with the aim of enabling children and young people to experience literature and poetry in more exciting and compelling ways, both in the classroom and beyond. Funded by the Clore Duffield Foundation, awards of up to £10,000 will be made to schools, further education colleges, community groups, libraries, literature organisations, and other arts and cultural organisations, with two funding rounds per year from 2011 to 2015. The scheme follows two previous small grants programmes, each worth £1m over five years. Dame Vivien Duffield said: “We have funded so much across the cultural learning sector in the past, but primarily for museums, galleries and the performing arts. I am delighted to be extending our support to the world of literature in this way.”
