BBC Cymru Wales and the Arts Council of Wales are joining forces in a drive to nurture creative talent in Wales by encouraging the commissioning of new work and the growth of digital and craft skills across the country's creative sector. It is hoped that defining the relationship between the broadcaster and the funding body will lead to greater collaboration and include arts organisations, artists, museums and libraries across Wales. BBC Cymru Wales and the Arts Council have already formed a unique partnership in the UK by jointly funding the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Nick Capaldi, Chief Executive of the Arts Council of Wales, said that the new partnership will maximise the value of public money contributed to both organisations. “It’s about pooling our expertise to ensure that the best of the nation’s arts are seen and enjoyed. But it’s also about investing in the creative potential of our leading artists, ensuring that they have the skills and expertise to thrive in the modern digital age.”
