Equity cautions performers over casting agency

Performers’ union Equity has urged its members to exercise caution in relation to casting agency Mad Dog Casting Ltd following alleged instances of non-payment and an escalation of legal action to recover money owed.

The union said it was contacted by several members about the agency, which trades as Mad Dog 2020 Casting Mad Dog, at the beginning of the year saying they had not been paid for work.

“We put out a notice in January 2024 and since then many more members have contacted us for help recovering earnings owed to them by Mad Dog,” Equity said.

“A claim against Mad Dog has been commenced by our solicitors on behalf of 39 members. A second claim consisting of at least 18 further members is being considered pending the outcome of the first claim.”

Equity said that together the claims amount to more than £21,000.
