Manchester-based theatre charity names new trustees
Three new trustees are joining the Palace Theatre & Opera House Trust.
The trio are made up of LAURA WHITEHURST, Head of Creative Engagement and Contact, LIZ McCARTHY-NIELD, Director of Development at Chichester Festival Theatre and CHLOE McMACKIN, who is Digital Content Manager for Mamas & Papas with experience in arts marketing.
The new trustees will support the charity, which was created to strengthen connections between Manchester Palace Theatre and Manchester Opera House. It has set itself the mission of transforming the two heritage buildings “into places where a new generation of Mancunians can play, learn, explore and discover what theatre and performance means for them”.
The trust works closely with ATG Entertainment, which owns and operates the two venues, and its activity is delivered by the venues’ new Creative Learning department.
Since its inception, the charity has supported several Creative Learning participatory programmes at the two theatres, such as Relaxed Young Company, a dedicated weekly theatre programme which supports young people on the autism spectrum to develop performance skills.
