KATE MACKONOCHIE is the new Executive Director of Cantebury’s Marlowe Theatre.

She joins the theatre, which hosts Shakespeare, musicals and stand-up, from Manchester’s Factory International, where she has been Director of Producing since 2021.

Her appointment comes as the theatre begins undergoing a business development phase which will include building up its producing capability and its role as training organisation both in-house and within the region.

"As a Kent local, it’s hugely exciting to be joining one of the region’s most important cultural institutions – a powerhouse for the performing arts in Kent," Mackonochie told The Stage.

"I am thrilled to be joining on the cusp of an exciting move towards becoming a producing house and can’t wait to support the organisation through this exciting chapter."
