Scottish Institute announces new Principal

The Scottish Institute of Performing Arts, Film and Television has appointed MARK LANGLEY as Principal.

Langley joins the Scottish Institute (SI) – formerly known as The MGA Academy of Performing Arts – after nine years as Head of the Bath School of Music and Performing Arts at Bath Spa University.

Taking up the post in August, he will oversee the school's expansion on its new Livingston campus, which aims to increase the intake of both full-time and part-time students from 150 to 500. 

Langley has worked in higher education as a voice tutor and manager, professional director, voice and dialect coach, and expert reviewer for the Quality Assurance Agency.

With his esteemed reputation in the industry alongside our new facilities and ambitions, Mark’s joining bring expertise and opportunities to our students and prospective students like never before."

“I worked with staff at The SI when they first prepared to deliver BA programmes in 2018, giving me a unique opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the Institute and their incredible courses for both local and UK-wide talent," said Langley.

"When they asked me to become principal, it was an offer I could not resist.”
