Shakespeare’s Globe appoints new Chair
JAYNE-ANNE GADHIA has been announced as the new Chair of Shakespeare’s Globe, taking over the position from MARGARET CASELY-HAYFORD, who has led the board since 2018.
Gadhia is Chair of several organisations, including HMRC, Moneyfarm, Alpha and Ozone API. She is also a Senior Independent Director at Tate, a Senior Advisor at Vanquis Bank, and a member of the Mayor of London’s Business Advisory Board and the Financial Inclusion Policy Forum.
A chartered accountant, Gadhia spent six years at Norwich Union before becoming one of the founders of Virgin Direct in 1995. She subsequently spent five years at RBS before returning to Virgin as CEO of Virgin Money.
MATT JONES has also been confirmed as Deputy Chair, and will work alongside existing Deputy Chair SANDEEP DWESAR.
Principal at Ark Globe Academy since May 2012, Jones is Chair of the Southwark Association of Secondary Headteachers and Founder and Chair of social mobility charity The Elephant Group.
STELLA KANU, who joined Shakespeare’s Globe as CEO in October, said: "We are at such an exciting time of our life cycle as an organisation, and we are all energised by [Gadhia’s] arrival.
“I am confident that together, and with our skilful, diverse board, we can deliver our exciting ambitions. Jayne-Anne's natural charisma, intellect and drive will push the Globe's ability to pursue excellence across the work, the people who will benefit and our financial stability.”
Gadhia added: "The arts and education sectors have faced tough times recently, but they hold immense potential. I'm eager to contribute my experience and insights to this remarkable organisation's continued success."
