Arts at the heart of Young Scots Fund
A National Centre for Youth Arts is to be established with a £5m investment from the Scottish Government’s £50m Young Scots Fund. The new Glasgow-based venue will provide accessible rehearsal and production facilities, and an administrative base for Scotland’s youth arts companies. Creative Scotland will take a leading role in bringing together the relevant partners to design the new Centre, including the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, the National Youth Choirs and YDance, the youth dance agency. It has welcomed the announcement as fitting in well with its plans for building a network improved youth arts provision across Scotland and is “keen to make this opportunity a reality in very near future”. Its first steps will be to gather all interested parties to discuss the opportunities the new Centre will present.
