BBC Singers announces four new faces
Four artists are joining BBC Singers’ roster.
Composer and conductor OWAIN PARK joins as Principal Guest Conductor, having led BBC Singers in performances including the Singers at Temple Church Winter Festival in 2017.
RODERICK WILLIAMS joins as Composer in Association. As part of his role, he will write a new piece for BBC Singers each year.
Organist and broadcaster ANNA LAPWOOD and South African cellist ABEL SELAOCOE have been named as Artists in Association.
The new appointments come alongside the renewal of Chief Conductor SOFI JEANNIN’s contract until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Jeannin has held the role since 2017 and is now preparing her first commercial recording with the Singers, due to be released next year.
ALAN DAVEY, Controller, BBC Radio 3 and BBC Orchestras and Choirs, said: “These four appointments represent an important step for the BBC Singers in their ambition to bring exceptional choral music to the widest audiences.
“Over the past three years, Sofi’s exuberance and energy have led the BBC Singers in bold new directions and I can’t wait to see where this partnership will go next.”
