SOPHIE JONES has been promoted to Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at BPI with immediate effect.

Jones first joined BPI, the organisation representing the UK’s recorded music industry, in 2020 as Director of Public Affairs.

Her new role will be focused on giving the organisation a more strategic and coordinated focus around various public-facing and membership activities.

She will also act as Interim Chief Executive until a permanent CEO appointment is made, following the recent departure of GEOFF TAYLOR. His replacement is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

YOLANDA BROWN, who was appointed Chair of the BPI in July last year, said: “In the short time that I have worked with Sophie at the BPI, I have been blown away by her drive, strategic vision and her passion for all things British music”.

Chief Operating Officer MJ OLAORE added that Jones made an immediate impact on joining BPI at the beginning of the pandemic: “Sophie has a highly strategic outlook that will help to unlock even more value across the huge amount of work that we do on behalf of our members to create an environment in which British music and artists can thrive.”
