Leeds Playhouse Board Chair SIR RODNEY BROOKE is retiring after nine years in the role.

As Chair Brooke helped "transform the theatre into one of the most important and vibrant producing theatres in the UK", the organisation said. A new hospitality room in its building has been renamed after him as a testament to his contribution over the years.

He said: "It has been a true honour to be a part of Leeds Playhouse. The theatre has community spirit at its heart and brilliantly creates work that represents modern society, giving voice to those who need to be heard."
