CAMILLA, DUCHESS OF CORNWALL, is the new Royal Patron of the National Theatre.

She fills a gap left by MEGHAN MARKLE when she and PRINCE HARRY resigned from their royal duties, including patronages.

The theatre says Camilla is "a longstanding supporter for the arts" and "a devoted fan of theatre and champion of literature and drama". Her other patronages include The Royal Academy of Dance, Royal Society of Literature, London Chamber Orchestra, National Youth Orchestra, Theatre Royal Bath, and Unicorn Theatre for Children.

National Theatre Director RUFUS NORRIS said she has shown great support to the industry throughout the pandemic.

"The Duchess shares our belief that theatre enriches our lives in so many ways and that everyone should have access to the arts and creativity no matter where they are in the world."
