Commissioners reappointed to Historic England

BEN DERBYSHIRE and HELENA HAMEROW are reappointed Commissioners of Historic England for second terms of four years by Culture Secretary LUCY FRAZER. 

Derbyshire is a housing designer, currently serving as the non-executive Chair of HTA Design LLP, a design practice specialising in housing and placemaking. He first joined the practice as a student in 1973 before becoming a partner in 1986. 

The former RIBA President, he is now President of the London Forum of Amenity and Civic Societies and sits on the National House Building (NHBC) Council.

As Commissioner of Historic England, Derbyshire serves on the London Advisory Committee, High Streets Heritage Action Zone Board and chairs the Historic Places Panel.

Hamerow is a Professor of Early Medieval Archaeology at University of Oxford. 

She is a Fellow at St Cross College, Oxford and the British Academy, and an Honorary Fellow at Oxford's Lincoln College. She previously sat on boards at the Ashmolean Museum and Bodleian Libraries, and is now a member of the Board of Directors of Oxford Archaeology and of the Board of Visitors of the Pitt Rivers Museum

Currently, Hamerow chairs the Historic England Advisory Committee.

Overseeing the commissioners is Chairman Lord NEIL MENDOZA CBE, who was appointed in August for a term of four years.
