STEPHEN DOUGHTY has been appointed The Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s (RSNO) Chorus Director.

He will join the RSNO in September after 13 years as Chorus Master of Belfast Philharmonic Choir and 18 years as Director of Music for St. John’s Episcopal Church in Edinburgh.

Chief Executive Alistair Mackie said the chorus, now in its 179th year, looks forward to its future with Doughty.

Doughty said: "I am honoured to be part of such a prestigious organisation and look forward to many years of high-class music making across Scotland and further afield."
