Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) has announced LIZ KING as its new Executive Director, Producing & Programming.

Her appointment into the newly-formed role forms part of the theatre’s creative renewal programme, which is reorganising TRP’s creative and producing team to be led by a team of artists rather than a single artistic director.

King joins TRP from Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh where she is Director of Producing. Prior to her tenure at the Lyceum, she was a producer at Kneehigh Theatre, where she toured productions nationally and internationally for over ten years, as well as presenting six seasons of work in Kneehigh’s nomadic tent, The Asylum.

In her new role, King will collaborate with a new creative team of artists to set and deliver a producing and programming strategy for TRP’s creative and artistic activities.

“Enticing possibilities lie ahead and I’m very much looking forward to producing and programming some amazing shows and projects for audiences in Plymouth, the South West and further afield,” she commented.

Chief Executive and Executive Producer JAMES MACKENZIE-BLACKMAN added: “We’re confident that Liz’s vast experience, in the South West, at the Lyceum, and further afield, will ensure that our producing and programming ambitions are fully realised in the years ahead.”
