Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Creative Director steps down
Creative Director of Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse SUBA DAS has stepped down with immediate effect after just over a year in post.
Das was appointed in the spring of last year from his role as Artistic Director at HighTide.
Leading the Liverpool theatres, Das' debut season featured a reimagining of Caryl Churchill's Top Girls, in collaboration with Churchill. Alongside this, he rejuvenated the Everyman panto and developed professional production opportunities for creatives and companies from or based in the North West.
Das also appointed six associated companies (20 Stories High, Cardboard Citizens, Graeae, Homotopia, New Earth and Talawa) to help the theatre develop connections with Liverpool’s artists and audiences.
Chair ANDREA NIXON and Chief Executive MARK DA VANZO said Das has helped the theatres “move forward creatively and confidently”.
“We’re extremely grateful for the contribution he has made, in helping us widen our work with artists, audiences and our local communities.”
“The theatres are back in Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and celebrated their most successful Christmas on record,” Das said.
“Theatre, now more than ever, relies on the resourcefulness and care of artists, creatives, producers and crew and it’s been my privilege to convene so much of that passion in Liverpool.
"I wish the most fantastic team well in realising the exciting year ahead.”
The Board said while it finalises future artistic leadership, the theatres will return to their interim model with the appointment of artistic advisors.
