Making Music appoints new Chair

RHIANNON HARRISON has been announced as the new Chair of Making Music, representing the UK’s leisure music sector.

A freelance trombonist, Harrison splits their time between performing, teaching brass, and conducting the Worsley Concert Band. 

They have served on the board for three years as a trustee and a representative of the Worsley Concert Band. Harrison takes over from current Chair DOROTHY WILSON, whose six-year term ended in August. 

Harrison said, “I'm delighted to be taking on a more directly supportive role for this wonderful organisation, although it will undoubtedly be a challenge to fill the massive shoes left by outgoing chair Dorothy Wilson. 

The appointment of a new chairperson is one of several changes in the leadership team at Making Music. Former Chair Wilson will assume the role of Vice-Chair, while PETE BURCHILL takes up the position of Treasurer.

Additionally, the board has selected new members for three-year terms: CATHERINE TRAVERS, committee member of St Neots Sinfonia; ANDY DEVINE, Treasurer of Teesside Music Society; and KATHY MCLEISH, Music Director of Godalming Community Gospel Choir.
