Mayflower partnership makes new appointments
Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios have made several new appointments to their leadership teams.
Southampton-based Mayflower Theatre works closely alongside MAST Mayflower Studios, with the partnership aiming to create a dynamic creative hub in Southampton.
THOM SOUTHERLAND joins the team as Associate Artistic Director, working across both venues.
Southerland has directed productions across various venues, including Parade, Titanic, Grand Hotel and Mack and Mabel at Southwark Playhouse, and Me and Juliet at the Finborough Theatre.
"Some of my fondest and most inspirational moments have been in Mayflower Theatre, watching countless productions since growing up in the area in the 1990’s – but more recently creating shows such as Titanic the Musical & Cinderella," Southerland said.
"I have been struck and overwhelmed by the creative ambition of these two vastly different spaces and look forward to working with artists, audiences, and communities in this exciting dynamic region."
MATTHEW GOODE is appointed Executive Director. Goode was formerly Director of Marketing and Digital Delivery at leisure and event venue operators and social enterprise, BH Live.
Goode said he is proud to be part of a cultural trust that puts the customers at the heart of everything they deliver.
"Mayflower Theatre is a truly fantastic organisation with a programme of quality performances for the whole community and sets out to deliver inspiring experiences for all," he added.
ROBIN HANCOX is promoted to Head of Sales & Marketing, joining the executive team. The programming team sees LEWIS MULLINS promoted to Programming Manager and JAMIE SMITH to Creative Producer, with the recruitment of an Artist Development Coordinator to follow.
"We are delighted to bring in some more exceptional people to help us develop our organisations in their aim to become a powerhouse for creativity on the South Coast," Mayflower Theatre’s Chief Executive and Creative Director, MICHAEL OCKWEL said.
