New Chief Executive for Hallé Orchestra

DAVID BUTCHER will become the Chief Executive of Manchester's Hallé Orchestra.

He has been Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Britten Sinfonia for more than 25 years. Butcher said: "I have had many happy years with Britten Sinfonia, and as an adventurer at heart, I am also hugely looking forward to this new role with a world class symphony orchestra that I have admired for as long as I can remember."

He takes up his new position, replacing retiring Chief Executive JOHN SUMMERS, in early September.
