MARIANNE LOCATORI, Director of Strategic Projects at Theatre Royal Plymouth, has been announced as the successor to PHILIP BERNAYS, who retires as Chief Executive at Newcastle Theatre Royal in September after 16 years in the role.

Locatori joined Theatre Royal Plymouth in 2003 after spending several years at Ambassador Theatre Group.

Earlier this year she was appointed as Director of the Dance Consortium, a group of UK theatres committed to bringing the best of contemporary dance to audiences across the UK.

Chair of the Newcastle Theatre Royal Trust Nick Swales welcomed Locatori's appointment and paid tribute to Bernays, who announced his plans to retire last year but delayed them to continue leading the organisation during the Covid-19 crisis.
