Pomery to leave Turner Contemporary for The Box
VICTORIA POMERY will step down as Director of Turner Contemporary in the autumn to become CEO of The Box, Plymouth’s new £47m museum, gallery and archive. She has been with Turner for 19 years, including during the gallery’s first 10 years of operation. She oversaw the delivery of its iconic Margate seafront building – now featured on £20 notes.
The Box, whose opening was delayed until October last year due to Covid-19, is the largest multi-disciplinary arts and heritage space in the South West. It will be an important hub for education and learning and a major new cultural attraction for the city, as well as home to six nationally important collections.
