Principal appointed at new stage and screen production academy

DR STEVE BALL has been announced as Principal of BOA Stage & Screen Production, a new 16-19 academy specialising in film, TV, online and theatre production, opening in Birmingham in September 2021.

Starting his career as a teacher, he then became the founding Artistic Director of Language Alive! providing educational theatre for primary schools in Birmingham. He was subsequently Head of Arts for Birmingham City Council and since 2003 was at Birmingham Rep, most recently as Associate Director, leading an education team that runs a network of 14 youth theatres, partnerships with 12 schools and colleges and an extensive community engagement programme.

At BOA Stage & Screen Production he will be leading an industry-led approach to developing students’ skills in existing and emerging production techniques and broadcast technologies.
