Science Museum Group reappoints trustees
Secretary of State for Culture LUCY FRAZER has reappointed JUDITH DONOVAN CBE, PETER HENDY (Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill) and AJIT LALVANI as trustees of Science Museum Group for four-year terms.
Donovan is a Yorkshire businesswoman who founded a direct marketing agency in Bradford. During her 20 years at the helm, she chaired the Training and Enterprise Council and was the first female president of Bradford Chamber of Commerce after 167 years.
She is a trustee of the National Army Museum and Chair of the Employment Advisory Board for two Yorkshire women’s prisons.
With a professional background in transport, Hendy was Commissioner of Transport for London for almost ten years and is now a trustee of the London Transport Museum.
He has served as Chair of Network Rail since July 2015 and Chair of London Legacy Development Corporation since July 2017.
A scientist focusing on public health measures, Lalvani's work looks at how scientific advances can be deployed to protect people from major respiratory infections, including Covid-19 and the flu.
His practical solutions to improve patient care and public health have been credited with significantly reducing the number of tuberculosis cases in England. His work also addresses health disparities by tackling social determinants and promoting individual well-being, often incorporating the arts.
Alongside this, Lalvani is a member of the Board at English National Opera (ENO) and the Scientific Advisory Council of the College of Medicine.
