Shakespeare Birthplace Trust Chair PETER KYLE is stepping down following an 11 year tenure.

The trust says it is now looking to recruit a new chair, to lead through a time of "refreshed ambition and direction".

A former Pro-Chancellor of the University of Westminster and Chief Executive of Shakespeare’s Globe and the Scottish Ballet, Kyle was awarded an OBE for services to drama in 2011.

His current roles include Chair of the John Ellerman Foundation, Trustee of the Noel Coward Foundation and Governor of the English National Ballet School.

Kyle says it had been a tremendous privilege to lead the trust during a period of transformation and growth.

"The expertise and commitment of its Trustees, staff and volunteers dedicated to sharing Shakespeare with the world is truly inspirational."
