INGRID SWENSON has announced she will leave PEER in January after 23 years as Director.

During her tenure, Swenson oversaw a 2016 capital project to develop new exhibition spaces in the Hoxton arts venue.

She was awarded an MBE for Services to the Arts in East London in 2018.

Chair of Arts Council England Nicholas Serota said Swenson has made PEER "far more influential than its small size would normally allow".

Swenson said she recently co-wrote a children's art book due to be published next year: "This has led me to want to explore further writing challenges alongside other curatorial projects that I am developing,."
