Young to become Executive Director at Royal Court Theatre
WILL YOUNG is joining Royal Court Theatre as Executive Director in early 2024.
Young has been Executive Director of New Diorama Theatre since 2021 and was previously Relationship Manager at Arts Council England.
He joins DAVID BYRNE, recently appointed Artistic Director (AD) and CEO at Royal Court Theatre. Byrne previously worked with Young in his role as founding AD and Chief Executive at New Diormara.
Alongside his work as an executive director, Young is a theatre producer and co-founder of the independent theatre company Supporting Wall.
Young will be the first permanent Executive Director of the Royal Court since LUCY DAVIES' departure in 2021. He takes up the position from interim Executive Director REBEKAH JONES.
“It's the honour of a lifetime to be appointed as Executive Director at the most significant and exciting new writing theatre in the country," Young commented.
"From first arriving in London in my early 20s and discovering the Royal Court's bargain-priced standing seats to working with the brilliant Court team on For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy over the past few years, it's long been a theatre close to my heart.
"I can't wait to get started.”
