Sheet music for all in schools
A new agreement between the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) and the Department for Education will include a new licence with the Music Publishers Association meaning sheet music can be copied in schools. From April 2013, the Department will manage a national CLA Schools Licence for all state maintained schools in England, which will allow them to copy materials from books, magazines and websites legally. It expected to save around £6m, by saving local authorities and academies the cost and staff time of administering licensing. CLA will continue to have direct contact with the schools sector to increase awareness and understanding of the use of copyright material.
